Week ahead: Very warm - Mixed, Jul 28 - 11:26

Turning very warm for a brief time before more unsettled weather comes in. Turning very warm at the end of the week with many places staying dry, before a breakdown in the weather occurs at the weekend and it becomes more mixed through the following week.

For the weather for the next few days click here Friday 31/07/20 With low pressure south of Iceland and high pressure over the North Sea on Friday there will be a very warm southeasterly wind blowing up through the UK and Ireland pushing those temperatures up. It will be mostly dry across England and Wales during the morning while Ireland, Northern Ireland and western Scotland will see thicker cloud and some patchy rain. The afternoon will see the patchy rain move into northern Scotland while outbreaks of rain, possibly thundery and turning heavy at times, will push up from France and affect central southern counties of England before tracking east later on in the day and into the evening and overnight. Highs of 21 to 30C.

Saturday 01/08/20 There will be a fresher feel to Saturday. Rain will gradually clear eastern coasts in the morning to see a day of sunny spells and showers for many. Heaviest of showers will be concentrated in the east and in particular the northeast of Scotland. You should find any showers should fizzle out later on in the day and overnight as a ridge moves in although eastern coasts may hold on to any lingering showers. Temperatures cool off in the north with highs around 18C while staying warm in the southeast at 25C.

Sunday 02/08/20 An Atlantic low pressure moves in and brings cloudy skies and spells of rain to Northern Ireland, Ireland and western parts of Scotland in the morning before tracking eastwards and affecting central and eastern Scotland as well as Wales and western parts of England. Heaviest rainfall expected across Ireland. Elsewhere, it should be a dry day with sunny spells although cloud is likely to thicken everywhere by the end of the day. Temperatures range at 17C in the north and 21C in the south.

Monday 03/08/20 It will be a cloudy and wet start across England, much of Wales and Scotland on Monday with spells of rain. A drier start across much of Ireland and Northern Ireland although rain may be slow to clear the northeastern region. The more persistent rain over the UK should clear most places during the afternoon with showers, some heavy, developing behind. Highs range from 16 to 21C. Tuesday 04/08/20 Tuesday will see a brief ridge of high pressure allowing for a dry start across the UK however an area of low pressure tracks eastwards spreading rain across the British Isles. There will be brisk winds about too. Staying cooler with highs around 16C in the north and 21C further south. Wednesday 05/08/20 Midweek the UK looks to be within a trough and generally a westerly to southwesterly flow and so many places will see showers or longer spells of rain. Driest conditions towards the south and east. Temperatures at around 16C in the north and 21C in the south.
