Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 411...412...
Valid 030048Z - 030245Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 411, 412
continues.
SUMMARY...A severe threat will likely continue for a couple more
hours across parts of southeast Colorado and northeast New Mexico.
The threat could impact parts of far southwest Kansas and the
western Oklahoma Panhandle later this evening. But the potential for
severe is expected to be too localized for weather watch issuance.
DISCUSSION...The latest mosaic radar imagery shows a cluster of
strong thunderstorms in far northeast New Mexico with another strong
thunderstorm located in southeast Colorado. This activity is located
along the western edge of a pocket of moderate instability with the
RAP analyzing MLCAPE in far southeast Colorado near 2000 J/kg. In
addition, the Pueblo WSR-88D VWP has 45 kt of 0-6 km shear. This
environment should support an isolated severe threat for a couple
more hours. Hail and marginally severe wind gusts will be the
primary threats. Any severe potential is expected to diminish as
instability drops across the region later this evening.
