Areas affected...Northwest TX to Southeast KS

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 480...

Valid 010137Z - 010300Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 480
continues.

SUMMARY...Isolated large hail and damaging wind threat continues.

DISCUSSION...Southern High Plains short-wave trough continues its
slow eastward progression into western OK/northwest TX. Surface
front that settled into this region has moved little over the last
few hours and there does not appear to be an adequate cold pool to
significantly shunt this boundary appreciably south over the next
few hours. Weak low-level warm advection will continue along the
frontal corridor which should provide some assistance for renewed
convection. Radar data confirms this scenario with new updrafts
evolving southwest-northwest of the OKC metro. Hail remains possible
with the younger-mature updrafts, then gusty winds will be the
primary threat. Otherwise, very heavy rainfall remains likely with
these storms.
