Areas affected...Southeast LA...Southwest MS

Concerning...Tornado Watch 494...

Valid 240145Z - 240345Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 494 continues.

SUMMARY...A few strong storms remain possible across the lower
Mississippi Valley tonight - including the threat for a brief
tornado or two.

DISCUSSION...Remnants of Tropical Cyclone Beta continue to shift
slowly east-northeast across the lower MS Valley. Strongest
instability remains confined along a corridor across southeast LA
where surface dew points are in the mid-upper 70s. 00z sounding from
LIX appeared to sample eastern portions of the most buoyant air mass
with a surface-based parcel yielding 1100 J/kg. Even so, individual
convective updrafts have struggled to exhibit appreciable
strength/longevity, possibly due to stronger low-level shear
maximized well north of this region across northern MS/AL. East-west
boundary draped across southern MS remains the primary focus for
potential supercells over the next few hours.
