Weather will turn wet and windy as well as cooler from midweek before high pressure returns the following weekend. High pressure currently over the country is squeezed out the way allowing for a trough midweek to bring in cooler and more unsettled weather throughout. Wednesday 23/09/20 A cloudy and wet morning across central and east England as heavier rain moves through here. Sunny spells and showers elsewhere. In the afternoon rain still affecting parts of eastern England but largely dry across the rest of England and much of Wales as well as eastern Scotland. Rain, however, pushing into Ireland, Northern Ireland and western Scotland as well as west Wales and southwest England. Strengthening winds here too. A cooler day for all with highs at 18C in the southeast, ranging between 14 to 17C across southern and central England and ranging between 10 to 14C further north and west.

Thursday 24/09/20 An area of low pressure moves right over the British Isles on Thursday. Another band of rain, heavy at times, will sweep across the country. Behind the rain expect showers that could merge into longer spells of rain in places, particularly across Wales and southern England. Windy too. Staying chilly with highs at 16C in the southeast and 12C further north.

Friday 25/09/20 Low pressure pushes offshore over the North Sea on Friday and in doing so winds veer round to the northwest and become brisk making the air feel even chillier. It will be a day of sunny spells but also showers, some of these turning into longer spells of rain at time more so in the north and west. Highs at 12 to 15C. Saturday 26/09/20 A ridge builds in from the west over Ireland, Northern Ireland and then pushes eastwards. A largely dry day with sunshine for many areas although there will still be a brisk northerly wind, cloudier skies and possible patchy rain along eastern coasts. Highs at 11 to 15C. Sunday 27/09/20 With high pressure to the west and low pressure circulating over Denmark, a northerly wind still prevails across the country. Winds still brisk along easternmost coasts and still some lingering showers affecting these areas too throughout the day. Elsewhere it will be dry with sunny spells. Highs at 12 to 15C. Monday 28/09/20 High pressure still around allowing for a largely dry and fine day once again although chilly in a northerly wind. Cloudier skies in the southeast coast of England with possible scattered showers here. Highs ranging from 10C in the north and 14C in the south.
