Week ahead: Staying cool - Rain at times, Oct 11 - 09:29

Some rain for the start of the week but high pressure builds back in bringing drier but cool conditions. High pressure will be scuppered by an area of low pressure moving across the country during the first half of this week. Expect rain at times. High pressure will then build back in allowing for lighter winds and mainly dry conditions. Expect overnight frosts and fog patches to occur.

For the weather for the next few days click here Wednesday 14/10/20 An east to northeasterly wind continues to affect much of the UK maintaining a chilly feel. Lighter winds further west. A cold start, particularly in the west where there will be a early morning frost. Scattered showers affecting eastern areas in the morning but these will push westwards into the afternoon on the brisker winds in particular. Much of Scotland and Northern Ireland will remain dry throughout. There will be plenty of sunshine however for most places. Highs 9 to 14C.

Thursday 15/10/20 High pressure to the north is likely to drift southwards across Britain, bringing a dry day to many places with sunny spells and mostly light winds. A few scattered showers around coasts in the east and south of Britain. Starting chilly with a touch of frost for many rural areas, and some local fog patches. Highs 10 to 14C.

Friday 16/10/20 A wet and cloudy start for much of Ireland, Northern Ireland and western Scotland. The rain will push eastwards and affect the rest of central and southern Scotland, Wales and northern England later. Meanwhile, early fog and frost patches will clear to allow for a dry and fine day further south. Drier and brighter behind the band of rain towards the north and west but with a few scattered showers about too. Highs 9 to 13C.

Saturday 17/10/20 Some uncertainty, but high pressure is likely to stay to the north, whilst low pressure is to the south where it will be largely cloudy with the risk of some rain or showers in southwest England, but many places likely dry. Sunshine probably best in sheltered areas in the northwest. Highs 9 to 14C. Sunday 18/10/20 Currently, the UK looks to be within an easterly wind while low pressure sits to the southwest and high pressure towards the north. Ireland, Northern Ireland as well as parts of Wales and southwest England look to see some rain at times while elsewhere will stay largely dry with sunny spells. Highs 10 to 14C. Monday 19/10/20 A similar set up looks to remain come Monday with easterly winds in the southwest along with some possible patchy rain about, however, a more northerly wind looks to come about across Scotland allowing for showers to be pulled in across northern and eastern coastal areas. Drier elsewhere. Highs 9 to 14C.
