Morning Call: Rain clearing slowly - Cool and showery north, Jan 27 - 04:44

Wintry showers north-west Good morning, It's a wet and windy start to the day for many, with the most persistent rain toward the west and south today. Some snow affects the Scottish Highlands this morning. Gales gusting 40 to 50mph inland across the south & east this morning will ease slowly from the west. Brighter skies and showers will develop from the north-west into the afternoon.

It will be fairly mild in the south, highs 10C, but turning cooler from the north-west, and it will be chilly tonight, perhaps a slight frost in sheltered rural spots. A scattering of sleet and snow showers are likely in the north-west later today, giving a dusting of snow on the hills, and some snow may fall to low levels, giving a risk of ice tonight. Have a great day. Garry
