UK Forecast: Bright for many Saturday - Increasingly very mild, Jan 22 - 16:01

Saturday A ridge of high pressure over the south-east brings a dry and bright day for many. Sunshine for much of England & Wales. Cloudy in western regions. A front across Scotland brings cloud, and rain to the West Highlands. A warm front approaches from the south-west, bringing thickening cloud. Rain for Ireland by afternoon, and drizzly for Wales & the south-west, plus a freshening southerly breeze. Highs 8 to 10C north & east, to 12C in south-west.

Saturday night Cloudy skies spread to all regions into the evening, and outbreaks of rain move north-eastwards. The most persistent rain affects Wales & northern England in the late evening, heaviest over the hills of south Wales. Overnight, drizzly rain spreads to most of England, also southern Scotland. Extensive hill fog, particularly in the west & south-west of Britain. Very mild, temperatures likely rising through the night, widely between 8 and 12C.

Sunday Very mild air across the British Isles as warm fronts advance northwards within a southerly flow. A lot of cloud, and occasional drizzly rain in western regions of Britain, also Ireland, plus widespread hill fog. Murky around Irish Sea coasts, also in the south-west. A little sun may break through toward the east. A slight southerly breeze, strongest west. Quite a humid feel, temperatures widely 10 to 13C, locally 15C to the lee of high ground.

Monday Mild air continues to influence much of the country, whilst a trough of low pressure moves into the west. Dry for much of daylight across the Midlands & eastern Britain, but rain develops in the west & north-west. A weakening band of rain is likely to spread eastwards later, but may give some brief heavy squally bursts in the evening for central parts. Rain then showers for Ireland. Gusty southerly winds. Very mild, highs 11 to 14C.
