Windy northern Europe Wednesday A breezy day across much of Spain and Portugal, but the Algarve and Andalucia regions will be warm and sunny, highs 22C. Cloudy and cool in northern Spain, nearer 10C. Strong northerly winds for southern France. A front across central Europe brings significant snowfalls to the Alps. Persistent rain develops for Hungary. Low pressure forming over Italy brings showers to the north, whilst southern Italy stays largely dry. Fair weather for the eastern Mediterranean, with sunshine for Greece, highs 17C. A cool north-westerly wind affects northern-central Europe, with squally showers for northern France & Germany, plus the Low Countries. Low pressure over Scandinavia brings gales to the southern Baltic, and rain to the Baltic states. The north & west of Norway sees frequent snow showers spreading from the north.
Thursday High pressure across south-western Europe, and low pressure over northern Scandinavia produces a cool westerly pattern across central & northern countries. Dry across Spain and Portugal, although windy in the south, but it remains quite warm. A cool northerly wind across the western Mediterranean, but it will be largely dry. Areas of showers for southern Italy, the Balkans and mainland Greece. Cloud and patchy rain for northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Dry across southern France. Persistent rain spreads south & east across Germany, and may turn to snow over high ground. A brighter day for the Alps, but some snow may develop later from the north. Cool and breezy around the Baltic, but a good deal of sunshine across Scandinavia. Snow showers continue for northern Norway.
