European Summary: Rain central areas - Warm & dry southeast, Mar 31 - 05:43

Rain affecting much of central and southwest Europe, warmer and drier south and east Thursday Low pressure across Iberia brings thundery rain and gusty winds to Spain, spreading east through the day. Portugal should become brighter, but windy and cool. A warm southerly flow brings increasingly high temperatures to the south and south-east of Europe. High pressure brings dry weather and sunshine to Italy, Greece and the eastern Mediterranean. Temperatures widely topping 20C, and likely 25C across the Balkan countries and toward the Black Sea. Increasingly warm too for central Europe. An area of heavy rain and thunderstorms will affect France, extending into Belgium. Bursts of rain also spread to Germany. Showery in Norway and Denmark. Sunny spells for Sweden and Finland. Breezy and showery in the Baltic states. Patchy rain may reach Poland.

Friday A chilly day in Spain and Portugal. Heavy showers in the north of Spain, with strong winds and some rain in eastern Spain. Scattered showers affecting the Baltic States. Fair and warm for Italy with plenty of sunshine to come here. More sunshine in Greece and Turkey, staying dry. A cloudy and wet day to come over France. Winds here and cool with the heaviest of the rain in more central and southern areas. Showers for the Low Countries, but some cloud and outbreaks of rain across southern Germany and southern Poland. Mostly fair and chill in Austria and Hungary as well as Switzerland. Cloud and some showery rain in Denmark. Further cloud and some outbreaks of rain across the Baltic States, wet and cloudy for Finland too. Sweden will be dry with further spells of sunshine, but cloud and showery rain affecting Sweden.
