Week ahead: Mixed overall - Some rain in east, May 27 - 09:11

Rain early next week, drier in the north although mixed overall Forecast confidence remains low through the coming week, although the we are far more confident in the overall pressure pattern. This sees high pressure to the north with low pressure to the south. An easterly flow dominates and this is expected to bring some rain late on Monday and into Tuesday, most in the east. Then becoming mixed in the south of the UK and Ireland, although drier in the north with the best snushine in Scotland.

For the weather for the next few days click here Holiday Monday 30/5/16 Low pressure centred close to the Low Countries on Monday. This is likely to be bringing a breezy day over eastern parts of England with the risk of some patchy rain here too. The rain may affect parts of southern England although uncertainty over how widespread this could be. Drier and brighter in Scotland and also over western England and Wales. Ireland should be dry with sunny spells developing here too. Tops at 17 to 23C.

Tuesday 31/5/16 Low pressure is expected to be closer to eastern coasts on Tuesday. This may bring rain to the east of Scotland and eastern England, some of it heavy at times. Probably drier to the west with sunny spells. Breezy for all too. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Wednesday 1/6/16 The area of low pressure may be over more southern parts of the country through Wednesday. This gives the threat of some cloud and rain in much of England and eastern Wales. Drier in Scotland and Ireland, with the best of the sunshine in the west. Tops near 15 to 21C.

Thursday 2/6/16 A weak area of low pressure still affects southern England on Thursday. This gives some cloud and showery outbreaks of rain here, although some bright and drier spells between the showers. For the majority of the rest of the UK and Ireland it should be dry with sunny spells. Highs near 16 to 22C.

Friday 3/6/16 There is a hint of lower pressure being west of Ireland on Friday, perhaps bringing cloud and some outbreaks of rain here. Drier in more eastern areas of the UK and Ireland with some bright or sunny spells here. Tops at 17 to 23C. Saturday 4/6/16 Pressure remains high to the east of the Uk through Sunday, although low pressure is to the west. This brings the risk of some rain into Ireland and western parts of Scotland, although drier to the east. Highs at 16 to 22C.
