The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 184, 185 continues.
SUMMARY...Threat for damaging wind and a few tornadoes will persist
into early evening, especially from central PA through western and
central NY.
DISCUSSION...Line of strong to severe storms is moving east through
western NY and west central PA at 35 to 40 kt. Organized structures
with embedded meso-vortices and bowing segments are indicated within
the line along with recent reports of severe wind gusts/damage. The
downstream boundary layer has destabilized with temperatures
generally in the 70s supporting 500-700 J/kg MLCAPE, and storms are
embedded within wind profiles characterized by strong vertical shear
and large 0-1 km hodographs. Thus the downstream atmosphere will
remain favorable for damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes as
activity continues through central PA and western and central NY
next few hours.
