Areas affected...Eastern VA...Southern/eastern MD...DE

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 448...

Valid 130025Z - 130200Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 448
continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for locally damaging wind will continue for the
next 1-2 hours, potentially extending eastward into portions of
Maryland and Delaware outside of WW 448. Downstream watch issuance
is unlikely due to an anticipated weakening trend later this
evening.

DISCUSSION...A couple of bowing segments have recently evolved with
the thunderstorm cluster over the Mid Atlantic; one currently
passing east of DC, and the other approaching Chesapeake Bay near
Annapolis. Given the modest increase in organization that has
occurred in the past hour, and a moist and moderately sheared
environment downstream, some damaging wind threat will likely
persist for the next 1-2 hours. This threat will extend into
portions of MD/DE, and perhaps eastern VA, outside of WW 448.

Later this evening, a gradual weakening trend is expected as
surface-based instability begins to wane. Given the anticipated
short duration and marginal severity of the downstream threat,
additional watch issuance is currently not expected.
