Rain for several hours, clearing later Good morning, Low pressure sweeps across Britain today bringing wet and windy weather to most places. Fronts will pass north-eastwards, giving heavy rain which will set in for several hours, breaking up into showers later from the west. South to southwesterly winds will be up to gale force around coasts and over hills, the strongest winds transferring eastwards through the day, gusting over 50mph in exposed spots.
Highest rainfall totals will be across south Wales and south-west England, where 25 to 40mm is possible, whilst 15 to 20mm is likely for central Britain. Nearer to 5mm in East Anglia. Northern Scotland will escape largely dry in the morning, but showers are likely toward the north-west coast and Western Isles. Some sunny spells breaking through from the west across England & Wales during the afternoon, and winds will slowly ease. Further rain comes back into southern Ireland later. Today's top temperatures will nudge above 20C away from rain, but only 14 to 18C whilst wet weather persists. Have a great day. Garry
