Periods of wind and rain in northern parts of the UK and Ireland, snow on mountains Good morning, A windy and cold morning in Scotland. You will need to wrap up warm against the cold with a gale force easterly wind here. Some snow over the highest of the Grampians too. A further area of rain in Wales and also Northern Ireland as well as eastern Ireland. Some patchier rain in eastern England. Drier in other areas with broken cloud and some bright spells.
Little changes this afternoon with more rain in central, eastern and northern Scotland together with some snow on the mountains. Western Scotland should be drier and brighter. Some showers in southwest England whilst cloud and patchy rain affect Ireland. Lighter winds.
Best sunshine in central and eastern England with some sunny spells although cloud affecting southern coasts. Cold for all.
