Week ahead: Frequent rain - Some hill snow, Nov 29 - 10:29

North-south temperature contrasts An unsettled weather pattern will continue through the weekend and onward into next week as a series of Atlantic depressions move across the country. Spells of wet and windy weather will be mixed with some sunnier moments. Temperatures will be often mild in the south, but cool in the north. Things may become cooler for all as the week goes on, with a greater risk of snow showers in the north. For the weather for the next few days click here

Sunday 02/12/18 Areas of rain will move across the country. Some persistent falls over a few hours, tending to break up into clusters of showers from the west. Snow over the southern Scottish Highlands. An improving picture across England and Wales with sunny spells coming through. Staying unsettled through the day for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Blustery winds. Temperatures ranging from 12 to 14C in the south of England, to just 5 to 8C in Scotland.

Monday 03/12/18 A complex pattern with low pressure passing east, and pressure then tending to build from the west. Staying breezy with a few areas of showers, focused toward the west and north. Snow over Scottish mountains. Some sunshine, mostly in the east. Mild for many places, highs of 12 to 14C south and east, but nearer 6 to 9C for the north of Britain and Ireland.

Tuesday 04/12/18 A brief ridge of high pressure influences the country. Much of the day should be dry with some sunshine. A risk of fog and frost in the morning. A few showers toward the north & west of Scotland, perhaps north-west England. Fronts move back into the south-west later with a risk of rain setting in into the evening. A familiar north-south split of temperatures, highs 6 to 13C.

Wednesday 05/12/18 An unsettled day as low pressure moves back across the country. A spell of heavy rain moves eastwards across England & Wales. A risk of snow for the hills of southern Scotland and northern England. Possible gales. Temperatures again varied, 10 to 12C south, 4 to 6C north. Thursday 06/12/18 Most likely staying unsettled, with rain and wind, and a risk of snow over northern hills. Temperatures 6 to 12C. Friday 07/12/18 Chillier air may move down from the north, with wintry showers in places. Some sunny periods. Highs 4 to 9C.
