Week ahead: Unsettled outlook - Wet and windy for most, Nov 25 - 09:33

Unsettled as a string of low pressure systems impact the British Isles We're in for a rather unsettled spell of weather as a stream of Atlantic low pressure systems impact the British Isles. It will be wet and windy everywhere with winds potentially reaching gale force for some coastal areas and islands. Temperatures will be much milder as the country comes under the influence of a generally westerly airflow.

For the weather for the next few days click here Wednesday 28/11/18 A low pressure system is centred over the Atlantic to the west of Scotland extending a trough over the British Isles. This will lead to a cloudy, wet and windy day on Wednesday. The cloud may break in the south leaving some sunny spells in the late afternoon. Winds may reach gale force over higher ground and along coasts. Highs at a much milder 10 to 14C.

Thursday 29/11/18 Low pressure stays close by to the north on Thursday moving to the north of Scotland. It will be a cloudy start for most though the cloud will break in a band across the centre of the country bringing sunny spells to southern Scotland, northern England and southern Ireland. The heaviest rain will be across northwest Scotland and southwest England. Staying breezy with near gale force winds still possible for some western coastal areas. Highs at 7 to 13C.

Friday 30/11/18 Low pressure remaining to the north on Friday. Cloudy for most to start the day but some good sunny spells should develop across Ireland and the southern half of Scotland. Some rain for Wales and western parts of England with the heaviest rain expected in the southwest. Near gale to gale force winds possible for the islands of Scotland and around the coasts of the northern half of the UK. Turning cooler with highs at 4 to 10C.

Saturday 01/12/18 A ridge of high pressure may build from the south on Saturday. This leads to an early frost but then a dry and bright day for most areas. Early mist and fog patches clearing quickly. Cloud increasing from the west through the afternoon will bring rain and increasing winds to Ireland and Scotland by the evening. High temperatures of 5 to 10C. Sunday 02/12/18 Low pressure near Iceland extends a front across the British Isles leading to a cloudy, wet and windy day for most. A band of rain will move across the country with the heaviest rain in the west. Another windy day with temperatures feeling mild at 9 to 13C. Monday 03/12/18 Low pressure stays to the north of the British Isles on Monday. It will be a cloudy and wet start to the day for most though this should clear to the southeast by the afternoon leaving a bright day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Feeling mild again with highs of 8 to 12C.
