Week ahead: Springlike warmth - Dry overall, Feb 19 - 10:54

Some fog and slight frosts High pressure will dominate over the week ahead, with little or no rain in most places. Plenty of sunshine, and very warm temperatures thanks to a strong southerly airflow. Some fog in the mornings, and an increasing chance of frost heading into next week. For the weather for the next few days click here

Friday 22/02/19 High pressure centred over southern Scandinavia promotes a very mild southerly airflow across the British Isles. Fronts out to the west bring patchy rain or drizzle to the west of Ireland and west coast of Scotland. Otherwise it will be dry, with low cloud or early fog patches breaking to give plenty of sunshine. Blustery winds in the west, lighter winds in the east. Temperatures climbing to 13 to 16C, locally 18C to the lee of high ground in north Wales & northeast England.

Saturday 23/02/19 Generally dry and warm with an ongoing southerly breeze, which remains brisk in the west & north. Some low cloud and patchy rain for the far west of Ireland and Scotland. Banks of cloud may also drift around Irish Sea coasts. Early local fog, then lots of sunshine for England and Wales, plus central-eastern Scotland. Very mild again, highs 13 to 16C or locally a degree or so higher in shelter.

Sunday 24/02/19 The winds ease, but high pressure stays in charge, maintaining dry weather across the British Isles. A greater risk of widespread fog in the morning, and a chilly start for some. A good deal of sunshine coming through, with local patches of low cloud stubborn to break up. Temperatures topping out at 12 to 15C.

Monday 25/02/19 High pressure remains in charge, centred to the east. Again, early fog may be a hazard in the morning, and slight frost possible. Warm sunshine breaking through for many. Cloudier out to the west of Ireland and Scotland where a southerly breeze freshens. Light winds for most places. Highs 11 to 14C. Tuesday 26/02/19 Little overall change, with dry, anticyclonic weather prevailing. Early fog and slight frost possible. Sunshine and fairly light winds. Not as warm as previous days, but still mild, highs 10 to 14C. Wednesday 27/02/19 Fairly slack high pressure stays in charge. Dry overall, with variable cloud and a good amount of sun. Highs 10 to 14C.
