UK Forecast: Sunny spells - Showers, heavy & thundery at times, May 19 - 15:50

Monday Low pressure to the northeast of the UK with higher pressure to the west on Monday. There will be a mixture of sunny spells and showers, most of these affecting eastern parts of the UK and Ireland. Northwestern Scotland could see heavier, more prolonged spells of rain through the day. Drier and brighter for Wales, Northern Ireland, southwestern Scotland and western England. Highs at just 10 to 12C in the northwest but up to 20 or 22C in southern England, more widely at 14 to 18C.

Monday Night Rain and showers easing overnight for most areas with the exception of the far northeast of Scotland where it could continue through the night. Clear skies developing over England, Wales and Northern Ireland, staying cloudier over Scotland and Ireland. Overnight lows falling to 4 to 10C.

Tuesday High pressure stays to the west on Tuesday while low pressure is to the east. This brings another mixed day of sunny spells and showers. The showers tending to be scattered but concentrated over eastern parts of Scotland and England. Drier and brighter for Ireland, Wales and western parts of England and Scotland. High temperatures widely at 12 to 19C: 20 to 21C in some favoured spots in England.

Wednesday A slack pressure gradient over the UK and Ireland on Wednesday. This brings a mixture of sunny spells and showers which will predominantly affect northeastern Scotland. A low pressure system brings building cloud over Ireland, Wales and southwestern parts of England, followed later in the evening by rain. A drier and brighter day for southwestern Scotland and the north of England. Highs at 14 to 20C for most. Just 11 to 12C in the northwest of Scotland.
