Morning Call: Heavy rain east - Drier, bright southwest, Oct 06 - 05:44

A wet day for eastern parts of England and Scotland as a slow-moving front brings heavy outbreaks of rain. Drier and brighter to the southwest with good spells of sunshine. Good morning, It's a wet start to the day for much of Scotland and eastern England as a weather front extends through the UK. A few showers for Wales and southwest England but a dry start elsewhere with increasing sunshine further west. Through the morning rain persists for eastern parts of England and Scotland but starts to ease from the north.

Rain continues to ease from the north through the afternoon but southeastern England could continue to see a few heavier bursts. A dry and bright afternoon for Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and southwestern parts of England. High temperatures reaching 15 or 16C in the sunshine, just 11 to 14C in the rain.

A few showers linger for southeastern England through this evening while a band of rain starts to edge into western Ireland as the next area of low pressure approaches the British Isles. Have a good day! Claire
