Mesoscale Discussion 1029 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0707 PM CDT Sat Jun 27 2020 Areas affected...Northeast Montana Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible Valid 280007Z - 280200Z Probability of Watch Issuance...40 percent SUMMARY...Strong winds are possible with convection this evening. DISCUSSION...Scattered convection has gradually expanded in areal coverage along a corridor from southwestern into north-central MT, immediately ahead of a weak short-wave trough. The leading edge of this high-based convection has gradually organized and a developing squall line now arcs from Phillips County - western Garfield County - Petroleum County. This activity is surging northeast along the leading edge at roughly 40kt. With warm surface temperatures the boundary layer has deepened to near 3km and this should prove efficient in allowing gusty winds to reach the surface if adequate downdrafts are maintained. If this line continues to organize there is some consideration for a severe thunderstorm watch. ..Darrow/Guyer.. 06/28/2020 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... ATTN...WFO...GGW...
