Mesoscale Discussion 1045 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0809 PM CDT Sun Jun 28 2020 Areas affected...Northwest SD Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 313... Valid 290109Z - 290215Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 313 continues. SUMMARY...Large hail and isolated severe wind gusts are possible across northwest South Dakota this evening. DISCUSSION...Deep convection that formed over northeast WY has progressed across the northern Black Hills and has produced isolated measured severe wind gusts along with hail in excess of 1 inch. Substantial outflow is racing east-southeast ahead of this convection while the primary core of storms is moving east-northeast at roughly 35-40kt. Current speed/movement of this activity suggests the leading edge will exit ww313 shortly into the western portions of ABR CWA. With LLJ expected to increase across western SD over the next few hours there is concern these storms may spread at least 100mi downstream with some threat of severe. New ww may be required to account for this scenario. ..Darrow.. 06/29/2020 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product... ATTN...WFO...ABR...BIS...UNR...
