NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...South TX

Concerning...Tornado Watch 403...

Valid 270036Z - 270200Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 403 continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for tornadoes associated with Tropical
Depression Hanna is expected to diminish late this evening into the
overnight hours.

DISCUSSION...The tornado threat across South TX, associated with
Tropical Depression Hanna, is expected to diminish into the
overnight hours. Some weak, transient rotation in embedded cells
near the Rio Grade River west of the McAllen vicinity has been noted
over the past couple of hours, and may persist across parts of Starr
and Zapata Counties for a couple more hours. When adjusting for
storm motion, 00z BRO and CRP RAOBs indicate around 50 m2/s2 0-1 km
SRH, which is consistent with current values sampled in VWP data. As
Hanna continues to drift west/southwest and weaken overnight, low
level shear is expected to continue to weaken and become
increasingly unfavorable for low level rotation and tornadoes.
Tornado Watch 403 is set to expire at 03z, and a new watch is not
expected upon cancellation/expiration.
