Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0728 PM CDT Sun Jul 26 2020 Valid 270100Z - 271200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM THE UPPER GREAT LAKES TO THE CENTRAL PLAINS...AND OVER DEEP SOUTH TEXAS... ...SUMMARY... An isolated/brief tornado remains possible this evening across parts of south Texas, in conjunction with T.D. Hanna. Isolated severe thunderstorms also remain possible this evening from the central High Plains to parts of Michigan. ...Central Plains to the Upper Great Lakes... Thunderstorms are ongoing/widespread from the Upper Great Lakes southwestward to Kansas/southeast Nebraska/eastern Colorado, near a slowly advancing cold front. However, deep-layer shear remains weak atop the warm sector. As such, expect storms to remain largely sub-severe this evening, with only an isolated risk for damaging wind gusts expected before storms gradually weaken in most areas overnight. ...Deep South Texas... As Hanna continues moving slowly southwestward into central Mexico while gradually weakening, convection northeast of the center, across Deep South Texas, persists. With the evening BRO RAOB, and area VWPs still showing 30 to 35 kt winds veering with height in the lowest few km, a rotating storm or two remain possible. As such, will maintain 2% probability for a brief tornado across this area. ..Goss.. 07/27/2020Read more
