Week ahead: Brief heat - Mixed, Jul 29 - 09:04

A brief very warm spell before more mixed weather comes about the following week. A very warm end to the week but with rain in the north and west. Drier in the south. Weather turning more mixed from the weekend and next week.

For the weather for the next few days click here Saturday 01/08/20 With a ridge of high pressure building in on Saturday it should be a mostly dry day towards the south and east once early morning rain clears in the far east. However, with low pressure northwest of Scotland and a fresh westerly wind there are likely to be showers being blown in across more northern and western areas. Temperatures cool off in the north with highs around 18C while staying warm in the southeast at 25C.

Sunday 02/08/20 On Sunday, with the retreat of the ridge and with low pressure still to the northwest of Scotland, the UK will see more in the way of cloudy skies and showery outbreaks of rain for particularly northern and western areas. Drier in the south and southeast of England. During the afternoon southern Ireland and southwestern parts of England and Wales could see more persistent yet light rain move on a separate area of low pressure tracking east. Temperatures range at 17C in the north and 21C in the south.

Monday 03/08/20 It will be a cloudy and wet start across southern England but it should become drier and brighten up from the west as the day progresses and as a weak ridge builds in once again. A day of sunny spells and some scattered showers further north. Highs range from 17 to 22C.

Tuesday 04/08/20 Tuesday will see a brief ridge of high pressure allowing for a dry start across the UK, however, an area of low pressure tracks eastwards spreading rain across the northern half of the British Isles where southwesterly winds will strengthen. Drier further south but more in the way of cloud about. Highs at around 23C in the south but cool in the north at 15C. Wednesday 05/08/20 Midweek, the UK looks to be within a trough and generally a westerly to southwesterly flow and so many places will see showers or longer spells of rain. Driest conditions towards the south and east where it will feel warmer. Temperatures at around 16C in the north and 21C in the south and possibly 25C in the far southeast. Thursday 06/08/20 Low pressure looks to remain just to the north of the UK allowing for more in the way of cloudier skies across northern regions as well as showery outbreaks of rain. There will also be a brisk west to southwesterly wind still. Drier further south with more in the way of sunny spells. Temperatures at around 16C in the north and 23C in the south.
