A wet and generally unsettled scene but with a potentially drier spell later in the week. Unsettled weather is expected over the coming days. Fronts will be bringing spells of rain or showers to many. Heaviest rain generally in the north and west. For the weather for the next few days click here Monday 27/7/20 Low pressure stays to the northwest of Scotland, bringing showers or longer spells of rain to western Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as northern parts of Ireland. Drier elsewhere across Scotland. Meanwhile, another area of low pressure tracks eastwards through St George's Channel and will bring rain to southern and central Ireland, Wales, expect heavy spells for a time across here, and southwest England before spreading across the rest of England. Breezy too as the band of rain moves through. Turning drier and brighter from behind. Highs at 16 to 23C.
Tuesday 28/7/20 Rain passes eastwards overnight, some of it heavy. A dry start for much of England but showers will affect northern and western parts of the UK and Ireland. It is likely to be turning brighter and drier in Ireland and western parts of the UK through the afternoon. A breezier day and feeling cooler in that northwesterly wind. Highs at 14 to 22C. Cooler still across the northwest of Scotland.
Wednesday 29/7/20 A weak ridge of high pressure on Wednesday will give a largely dry day to many, although with low pressure close by Scotland do expect showers to develop across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Cloud thickening later in the day across southern Ireland and southwest England before rain moves in overnight. Temperatures around 15 to 23C.
Thursday 30/7/20 High pressure is nudged eastwards through the day by the Atlantic low pressure tracking east. It will bring spells of rain to Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, where at times it could be heavy, before spreading across central and northern England and then turning that dry and fine weather largely wet over Scotland during the afternoon. Further south and southeast it will feel humid, be largely cloudy but should stay dry. Highs at 16 to 23C.
Friday 31/7/20 A largely dry day across central and southeast England with sunny spells developing. Feeling very warm and muggy, maybe even hot. Elsewhere, there will be cloudy skies with spells of rain, heaviest in the west. Breezy in northern Scotland and southwest England. Potentially very warm in the southeast with temperatures around 27 or 28C. Highs at 23C further north and 15C over northern Scotland. Saturday 1/8/20 An unsettled day to start the weekend as the UK sits under a trough. This will bring with outbreaks of rain for many. Breezy too along the northern and western coasts. Highs at 18 to 24C.
