A dry start for many but rain will quickly spread northeastwards from the southwest through the day and overnight. This morning, rain will spread northeastwards across southern and central England and Wales before turning drier and brighter from the southwest from late morning. The rain will also affect eastern parts of Ireland. Elsewhere, it will be largely dry with sunny spells but also some scattered showers, these could be heavy in places across northern and western Scotland. In the afternoon, rain will continue to clear Wales and parts of England for a time before more rain pushes in later. Rain will push into northern England as well as northeastern parts of Ireland. It will be largely dry for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland although with a few scattered showers about. Cloud will thicken across southern and western Ireland with some patchy spells of rain arriving here later on. Overnight, rain will continue to spread northwards with heavy and persistent spells of rain across western Ireland, possibly thundery here too, as well as Northern Ireland and across Scotland. Turning windy here too. The second bout of rain should clear southwest England and south Wales during the night, as well as southwest Ireland for a time before more rain moves in here. A muggy night in the southeast.
