Wet and windy, damaging winds are possible with a risk of flooding A stormy day ahead with widespread severe gales, high seas and damaging gusts of winds in places. This morning sees the heavy rain passing northwards through Northern Ireland and northern England, then into southern Scotland. A risk of local flooding. Following willo be squally showers to the south and west. However, the main feature of the morning will be the wind which will be gusting over 70mph on western coasts on Wales and England, and up to 50mph inland. By this afternoon the rain is across Scotland, with a further area of heavy rain into northwest England. Sunshine and showers in southern England and Wales. Once again the main feature of the weather will be the wind with further damaging gusts of 70mph in Wales, central and southern England as well as parts of central, eastern and southern Scotland. Staying windy overnight with gales in places, although these winds easing by the morning. Showers are likely, with some more persistent rain in eastern Scotland.
