Areas affected...Central High Plains

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 419...

Valid 052321Z - 060045Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 419
continues.

SUMMARY...Gradually diminishing storm strength and coverage is
anticipated over the next few hours.

DISCUSSION...Widely scattered severe thunderstorms are currently
ongoing across the central High Plains, supported by modest
instability and moderate vertical shear. Most storms have quickly
become outflow-dominant, leading to somewhat short updraft
persistence. The only exception thus far is the storms across Morgan
and Logan Counties in CO, where slightly more organization has
allowed for upscale growth along the outflow. This organization
could allow for the severe threat to persist downstream for longer
than has been observed within the more cellular activity. Overall
expectation is for convective inhibition to gradually increase over
the next several hours, which will lead to diminishing cellular
severe storm coverage. In contrast, longer life cycle of the linear
segments is anticipated, particularly if these lines can be persist
long enough to realize the augmented warm-air advection provided by
a strengthening low-level jet.
