Week ahead: Hot, few showers - Thundery showers next week, Aug 06 - 08:41

Hot weather arriving in the south, very warm for most, a few thundery showers and then thundery rain next week A hot few days ahead, especially in southern parts of England with temperatures into the 30's each day. Warm elsewhere too with sunny spells and isolated thundery showers. There are indications of lower pressure slowly developing into next week and this increases the risk of thundery showers and then some thundery rain later.

This results in an easterly flow across much of the UK and Ireland. Broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. There will be some showery outbreaks of rain in central and northern England, an odd crack of thunder too. Drier elsewhere with the best of the sunshine in northern Scotland. Tops at 17C in eastern Scotland and the coasts of northeast England, 35C in southern areas, widely 20 to 24C.

Tuesday 11/8/20 Thundery rain affecting central and northern Scotland on Tuesday, clearing to the north. A ridge of high pressure brings drier weather in Ireland, England and Wales with some sunny spells. Scattered showers developing in the afternoon. Tops at 34C in southeast England, 17C in Scotland.

Wednesday 12/8/20 A slack pressure flow on Wednesday. There will be sunny spells in England, Wales and Ireland, although some thunderstorms may develop into the afternoon. Thursday 13/8/20 Thundery rain may become more widespread over England and Wales as well as southern Ireland on Thursday. Misty and murky in places with fog on hills.
