Areas affected...the western Florida Panhandle

Concerning...Tornado Watch 490...

Valid 160409Z - 160615Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 490 continues.

SUMMARY...The greatest threat for a couple of tornadoes will persist
along the coast of western Florida Panhandle through 08Z.

DISCUSSION...The center of hurricane Sally remains just offshore of
the AL coast and is moving very slowly north northeast at 2 miles
per hour. See latest discussion from NHC for more details on Sally.
The more unstable portion of the warm sector remains just offshore
where dewpoints are in the upper 70s F. As the center of Sally
continues northward tonight into the early morning, the richer
moisture will advect inland as low-level trajectories become more
southeasterly to the south of a warm front currently located near
the coast. Discrete, shallow convection persists in a couple of
outer rainbands east of the center. Some of these cells continue to
exhibit updraft rotation as they move onshore. The best tornado
threat exists in a small corridor near the coast as mini-supercells
interact with the warm front before weakening as they move into the
more stable air farther inland.
