Week ahead: Warm & sunny - Unsettled later, Sep 17 - 11:00

Lots of sunshine and staying warm, but then turning cooler and more unsettled later Plenty of sunshine in the days ahead as high pressure remains in control of the weather. Eastern and southern areas could see more cloud at times, but many areas remain dry. Staying warm in southern parts, always a little cooler to the north. Some mornings may be cool, especially where the skies clear. Hints of some more mixed or unsettled weather from the middle of next week with temperatures much cooler for all. Sunday 20/09/20 High pressure stays to the north of the UK and Ireland on Sunday, but with low pressure close by southern areas there are likely to be one or two showers for parts of southern England and south Wales. Some cloud over eastern and central areas as well as northern Scotland. Sunny spells for other areas. Highs range from 15C in the far northwest to 23C in southern England. Feeling cooler in the breeze.

Monday 21/09/20 A ridge of high pressure over southern parts of the country on Monday. There will be plenty of sunny spells, the best of these in more southern areas of England and Wales as well as Scotland. Rain may affect northwest Scotland as well as northwestern parts of Ireland. High temperatures range from 16 to 24C.

Tuesday 22/09/20 Tuesday sees pressure lowering over northwestern parts of the country as a front brings outbreaks of rain into Scotland and Ireland. The rain could be heavy in northwest Scotland. Drier for England and Wales with some sunny intervals, the best of them in the east. Highs at 14C in northwest Scotland, 23C in southeast England. Wednesday 23/09/20 Outbreaks of rain may track eastwards across the country on Wednesday. This brings cooler weather to all. Perhaps turning brighter again in the west although with lower pressure west of Ireland it is likely to become wetter here with stronger winds. Highs at 13 to 18C. Thursday 24/09/20 Low pressure dominates the weather across Ireland and the UK on Thursday. This gives showers and longer spells of rain. The more persistent rain affecting western areas. Breezier conditions affecting most areas too. Highs at 12 to 16C. Friday 25/09/20 Low pressure remains over the UK and Ireland on Friday. Showers or longer periods of rain could affect many areas again, a few of these being heavy. Highs at 12 to 16C.
