European Summary: Many areas dry - Some rain northern Europe, Jan 26 - 04:43

Milder than recently in Scandinavia Tuesday High pressure across southern Europe brings a lot of dry weather to the continent. A weak cold front across Iberia may trigger a few isolated thunderstorms for southern Spain. Sunny spells for Portugal, highs 16C. Variable cloud and some sunshine for Italy and the Balkans. Scattered showers and feeling cool for the Greek islands. Chilly with some snow in northern Turkey. Dry across France, although breezy in the north, and patchy rain develops later around the English Channel. Breezy too for the Low Countries and northern Germany, highs 9 to 12C. Dry for Alpine regions. A front brings a mix of snow and rain to Finland, the Baltic States and eastern Poland. Mainly fair for Sweden and Denmark, highs 5 to 7C, whilst a front approaches Norway, bringing rain, gales and mountain snow later in the day.

Wednesday Mainly dry and bright across Spain and Portugal, although rain may arrive in the far north-west later. Fair weather extends across the Mediterranean, with some sunshine for Italy and Greece. Fronts bring rain to northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands, and later spreads to north-west Germany, Denmark and western Norway. Blustery winds in this region too. Central Europe remains dry, with some sun across the Alpine and Balkan regions. Another zone of patchy rain and snow moves across the Baltic to affect Finland. Snow showers in northern Scandinavia.
