Week ahead: Temperatures warming up - Showers in the northwest & west, Apr 17 - 09:41

Looking dry and bright for most for the start of the holiday weekend Temperatures are generally on the increase through this week as our winds shift from the northeast to southeast drawing in warmer air. It should be mostly dry and fair through the start of the holiday weekend. Early indications are that high pressure will start to break down by the beginning of next week but confidence remains low in the timing and extent of this.

For the weather for the next few days click here Saturday 20/04/19 High pressure keeps the weather fair for most into the start of the holiday weekend. Warm with some good spells of sunshine, particularly in the southeast. Cloud will build over the northwest through the day leading to a few spots of rain through the afternoon for Northern Ireland and Scotland. High temperatures at 16 to 22C.

Easter Sunday 21/04/19 Sunday sees the arrival of low pressure in the northwest. It will be an overcast and showery day for the island of Ireland and Scotland. A cloudy but dry day for much of England and Wales. Best chance of brightness in the far southeast. High temperatures at 13 to 15C in Scotland, 16 to 20C elsewhere.

Holiday Monday 22/04/19 Models are hinting at the further breakdown of high pressure on Monday and the passage of a low pressure system across western parts of the UK and Ireland that could bring rain and a brisk westerly wind. Staying mostly dry and bright across much of England and eastern parts of Scotland. Highs at 14 to 17C for the island of Ireland, 18 to 20C for England, Scotland and Wales.

Tuesday 23/04/19 Confidence is low but there are hints that a low pressure system may develop that could bring wet and windy conditions to the southwest on Tuesday. A bright and mostly dry day for north Wales, central and northern parts of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. High temperatures at 13 to 20C.

Wednesday 24/04/19 Again confidence remains low at this time, but a trough of low pressure could continue to bring showers to southwestern areas. Mostly dry and bright elsewhere. Highs at 14 to 20C. Thursday 25/04/19 A trough of low pressure may continue to bring breezy and damp conditions to western areas through Thursday. Drier and brighter in the east. High temperatures at 11-19C.
