Morning Call: Rain clearing - Showers in the east, Jul 09 - 05:44

A wet and cloudy day for the south but much of the rain clearing. Showers further north. Brighter spells across western places. A wet and cloudy start across much of England and Wales with the heavier and more persistent spells of rain clearing to the east through the morning. Some sunnier spells developing in the far south and southeast as well as some sun developing across northern England, but staying generally cloudy elsewhere. Any rain clearing eastern Ireland and Northern Ireland with brighter conditions developing behind although showers will develop in the east. Sunny spells and showers across Scotland. This afternoon stays cloudy and damp with some spells of rain, mainly light, across central and southern parts of England and Wales. Elsewhere, showers will continue over eastern Ireland and eastern parts of Northern Ireland as well as showers continuing across Scotland. These showers turning heavy and possibly thundery across eastern Scotland. The heavier showers, possibly thundery, will linger overnight across eastern Scotland. Largely dry elsewhere although cloudier skies and some patchy rain will develop across eastern coasts of England.
