Hot weather arriving in the south, very warm for most, a few thundery showers and then thundery rain next week The hot and humid weather of the last few days is likely to be continuing for several days more across many southern parts of the country. It will be warm to in western Scotland and western parts of Ireland. Further spells of thundery showers are likely and these will probably merge to longer spells of rain at times. There is the potential for some torrential thunderstorms.
For the weather for the next few days click here Sunday 16/8/20 Periods of thundery rain affecting much of England and Wales on Sunday, as well as the far south of Ireland. It stays very warm and humid across southern areas as well. Scotland and Northern Ireland will see drier weather and some good spells of sunshine, although eastern coast of Scotland on the far north east of England will again be troubled by lower cloud and some mist. Highs at 28C in southern England, 22C in western Scotland, but 17C on the mistier east coast.
Monday 17/8/20 The thundery outbreaks of rain continue across much of Wales and England through Monday, with further showery bursts of rain in Ireland. There is a risk of some torrential downpours across England in the afternoon. Dry again across Scotland on the far north of Ireland. Eastern coast of Scotland and the north east coast of England could again be troubled by lower cloud. Tops of 29C in southern England, 23C in western Scotland and parts of western Ireland but 17C in the mistier east.
Tuesday 18/8/20 Higher pressure to the north of Scotland on Tuesday is likely to bring a brighter and dry start to the day for many. There will be some missed or fog patches at first but they should clear. Showers may develop in the afternoon particularly across central and northern parts of England and southern Scotland as well as parts of Wales. Spells of sunshine for most. Eastern coasts of England and Scotland again seeing low cloud and some mist. Tops near 26C in the south, 22C in the sunnier west, again cooler on eastern coasts at 17C.
Wednesday 19/8/20 Lower pressure is expected to be to the west of Ireland on Wednesday. This brings stronger winds and rain to match of Ireland and eventually to Southwest England. Most of the rest of England, Wales and Scotland should be dry with some sunny spells. Tops at 19 to 23C.
Thursday 20/8/20 Low pressure remains in control on Thursday bringing further outbreaks of rain too much of the country. It may turn brighter in Ireland and the west of the UK with sunny spells and showers. Highs at 17 to 22C. Friday 21/8/20 Another mixed day on Friday with low-pressure over Ireland. There will be clouds and periods of rain and it may be windy as well. Most of the rain is expected to be across Ireland, Wales and match of England. Scotland should see less rain. Highs at 17 to 23C.
